Dr. Vanessa Lin, originally from Aurora, earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo, where she received the Dr. Karen Tompa Now Memorial Award.
Inspired by her own experience with orthokeratology contact lenses, she completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Mission Eye Care in Calgary, Alberta. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), with advanced training in myopia control and specialty contact lenses, including scleral and corneal RGP lenses for complex corneal disease. Throughout her residency, she lectured, presented research at conferences, and received the Art Optical Resident Travel Grant for innovation in specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Lin has returned to Ontario, where she works in private practice and serves as a Clinical Supervisor in the Advanced Contact Lens Clinic at the University of Waterloo.
Her volunteer work includes vision screenings for athletes at the Special Olympics and providing eye care to underserved communities in Jamaica.
Outside of work, she enjoys fitness classes, trying new restaurants, and travelling.
