Dr. Vanessa Lin, originally from Aurora, earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo where she was the recipient of the Dr. Karen Tompa Now Memorial Award.
Inspired by her own experience wearing orthokeratology contact lenses, she then went on to complete a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens at Mission Eye Care in Calgary, Alberta. Her training focused on specialty contact lenses for corneal disease, dry eye, and myopia control. Throughout her residency, she participated in various academic endeavours including lecturing and presenting posters at conferences. She was the recipient of the Art Optical Resident Travel Grant for the innovation of specialty contacts in a unique case.
Her volunteer work includes performing vision screenings for athletes at the Special Olympics as well as providing eye care for the underserved population of Jamaica.
She has now returned to Ontario to work in private practice and assist in clinical supervision at the University of Waterloo. In her free time, she enjoys fitness classes, trying new restaurants and travelling!
